Vitality Workshop

The Victoria County CAP Sites Association is very excited to be hosting a vitality development workshop for our organization's community volunteers. They have been doing a vast amount of community development over the last ten years and are planning some more inventive upcoming projects for the years ahead. However, we are in a period of change, need to be innovative and are definitely feeling the need for revitalization. There are also a number of skills we still need to develop as a community group and would like to work on together. We are having a daylong workshop (with overnight accommodation for those traveling) broken up into various sessions including board development, responsibility, motivation, recruitment, as well as, some rewarding GPS training and team building for the group. All of which have been designed to be very specific to our organization and the Victoria County Communities.

Thanks to Nova Economic Development’s Community Vitality Program, on Dec. 4 our VCCAPS Board Vitality Workshop that will be held at the Crown Jewel Resort from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. We will have a great motivational speaker, Fabian McKenzie, from the Cape Breton University to lead us through part of the day, who is also the coach of the Capers women’s basketball team. He will speak on motivating and recruiting volunteers and guide us through team building and working together exercises.

We are very excited that VCCAPS will be working with the Crown Jewel Resort in setting up a new local geocache! We will also be putting our new NS CAP geocoin in it. This will be a fun learning event for both the CAP Site Board Volunteers and the Crown Jewel Resort that will then be available for tourists to explore and continue the growing excitement in outdoor activity and technology, with help from CAP Sites.  See http://geo.hrca.ns.ca to learn more about the geocoin and we will have some on hand to see on Dec. 4.
